El Camino has a long history of college ministry with students from UCSB, Westmont College, and Santa Barbara City College. Our church has been a church home away from home for many students during their time of learning. Furthermore, we understood how important it is for college students to be connected to a local church so that they can continue to learn and grow in the Christian faith during this formational time of life.

Rides to Church from UCSB

We are one of the closest churches to UCSB, being only about three miles from campus. Many students have ridden bikes or walked to church on Sunday. We offer rides from campus on Sunday mornings at 9:25am sharp for Sunday School and morning worship as well as return rides to campus. If we are on break from Sunday School, the pickup time is 10:25am sharp. The pickup location is the UCSB Bus Loop on Ocean Rd. Click the image for location.

In addition, we encourage students with their own cars to coordinate rides with other students.

If you are interested in getting a ride to church on a Sunday, please email Pastor Jeremy or call the church number and leave a voicemail with your name and phone number to pass on to the driver.

Lastly, we are just steps away from the Calle Real & San Rossano bus stop if public transportation works for you.

Rides to Church from Westmont or City College

At this time, we do not offer weekly rides from Westmont or SBCC. However, if you are a student in need of a ride, we will do our best to coordinate a ride for you with one of our members. Please email Pastor Jeremy with your name, phone number, and details to try to coordinate a ride.

Vision for College Students at El Camino

Our prayer is for college students to be engaged in the life and community of El Camino. Whereas others might focus on a separate college ministry, we think it is important for college students to be involved with other believers, both older than them and younger than them, during this season of life.

We know life during college can be busy and stressful, which is why we hope El Camino and its members can provide rest and care for students. Once a month we have a fellowship meal following morning worship. In addition, church members are encouraged to invite students over to their homes on Sundays for meals and times of fellowship.

Our pastor is available throughout the week and weekend for prayer and discussion and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with the students present at El Camino.

All this being said, here are some things we've done in the past with college students: coffee and lunch meetups, table tennis matches, and final's week brunch.
